We've heard some rumblings through the grapevine that Bellator MMA will be returning to Mohegan Sun in April. Rumor is that the promotion was looking for alternative host sites after the new year in order to have a more centralized location, but couldn't find a place that could handle all of their needs in order to put on a safe event.
There's also some rumors that Bellator will be premiering on CBS, and this isn't far-fetched, as Bellator is owned by CBS' parent company, Viacom, and with the UFC premiering on ABC recently, it would make sense for their network competitor to throw some irons in the fire and compete with the big dog. With Bellator's close relationship with Mike Mazzulli (head of the Mohegan Athletic Commission), and their recent success with creating a bubble-like atmosphere over the 2nd half of last year at the casino, all signs point towards Bellator to returning to Connecticut in the coming months, and doing something BIG!
Signs also point to Bellator putting on more weight class tournaments, as these were successful for them last year while in the Mohegan bubble. Bellator has a big announcement planned for tomorrow, and we're suspecting that they'll be announcing their return to Connecticut, possible shows scheduled for CBS, and potentially more tournament style events in the near future.
