A young up and coming prospect in the welterweight division, Jon Piersma is someone to keep your eye on. Piersma stumbled onto the sport almost by accident, but has turned it into his sole focus in life. The former linebacker at St. John Fisher College happened to walk into a bjj class with a few of his teammates while in college, and from that day forward Piersma knew what he wanted to do in his adult life.
Fast forward 4 years and Piersma sports a 6-1-1 amateur record, and recently recorded a dominating win in his pro debut, securing a mounted guillotine choke 1:36 into the 1st round against a very game opponent at CFFC 91.
Piersma is a big welterweight who has an overpowering, but technical ground game that has proven to be too much for pretty much every opponent he's faced in his young career. Under the tuteledge of Casey Lamb at Synthesis Bjj in Rochester, NY, Piersma is a fast learner, and recently earned his purple belt after only training seriously for 4 years. An impressive feat to say the least.
Piersma is a true professional who has a lazer-like focus on achieving his dreams of breaking into the UFC, and hoisting gold above his head in the future. Keep your eye on Jon Piersma, as he is one of the brightest young welterweight prospects not only in the northeast, but in the entire country!
