Uncasville, Connecticut; sources close to New England MMA have reported that Bellator MMA and their CEO; Scott Coker are currently in negotiations with Mohegan Tribal Department of Regulations to hold an event at Mohegan Sun Casino Friday July 24th, without fans in attendance. Our sources have also gone on to elaborate that Bellator is seeking an agreement that would extend into September with either; weekly or bi-weekly fight cards, all taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. If Bellator and the Mohegan Tribe can come to terms or proper procedure and logistics this could mean Mixed Martial Arts competition could return to New England before August, possibly opening up the door for some New England fighters to get back into action sooner than later. If such an agreement comes to fruition Bellator would hold its first fight card since February after Bellator 241: Pitbull vs. Carvalho, also scheduled for the Mohegan Sun Arena on March 13th, was cancelled due to concerns of Coronavirus. With tribal land opening up the possibility of MMA competition here in New England, along with Bellator's familiarity with our region's fighters; New England based gyms and fighters should be keeping their ringers "ON" as Bellator would be likely to bring in some home grown talent to fill out their fight cards!
