Boston's Vincenzo Carita Clinches ABF Intercontinental Gold

On Saturday night, "The American Nightmare", Vincenzo Carita (now 28-1-1, 27KO) found himself in enemy territory for the third consecutive fight when he took on Deibis Berrocal (now 19-14) in an eight-round Cruiserweight clash with the ABF Intercontinental Cruiserweight Championship on the line.

At this point, Carita has traveled to Colombia for the past three fights of his career. In 2022, Carita and his team traveled to Colombia twice and fought at Gimnasio 101 Boxing Club in Madellin. The first time (October 2022), "The American Nightmare" took on Andres Abreu (1-21) and won that bout by TKO and then in December of 2022, Carita took on Dionisio Miranda (23-22-3) and was also victorious by TKO in the final round.

When Carita and the team traveled to Colombia this weekend for the third time, they again were in enemy territory, of course. This time, the fight was at Coliseo Municipal de Cienaga in Magdelena, Colombia. There was one goal in mind: take out Deibis Berrocal and return home as the ABF Intercontinental Cruiserweight Champion. Vinnie had put months of work into this camp with hours upon hours spent in the gym at Champs Boxing Club in Danbury, CT and Private Jewels Boxing in Lynn, MA. On top of this, he spent two weeks in Costa Rica with Coach Gareth McCloskey of Farmerstrength. There, Vinnie was put through grueling workouts in all parts of the Costa Rica environment including waterfalls, beaches, mountains, fields, etc. While in Costa Rica, Carita was also able to work with Hermosa Boxing Camp to better his craft. All of this paid off when "The American Nightmare" strapped up his boots for the 30th time of his professional career on Saturday night. Across the ring from him stood the tough and seasoned Deibis Berrocal of Monteria, Colombia. Carita came out in great shape after a very dedicated training camp and stopped Berrocal in the third round by RTD.

This gets recorded as Carita's twenty-eighth win with twenty-seven of them coming by KO. This statistic is astronomical as Carita holds a 96% KO rate across all wins. As a result, Carita is now the American Boxing Federation Intercontinental Cruiserweight Champion. When Carita gets home, he will get back to the drawing board and plan his next moves going into the Spring of 2023. Stay tuned, this year is destined for greatness!
