Cage Titans 63: Recap

Cage Titans 63 went down last Saturday and as always, delivered a great night of fights!

Cage Titans 63 went down in front of a sold out crowd at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth Massachusetts. Fight fans were lined up early and the action kicked off right at 6pm.

1. Mitch Raposo vs. Justin Valentin

- Result: Mitch Raposo defeated Justin Valentin

- Method: KO/TKO

- Round: 4

- Time: 3:03

Raposo looked absolutely Flawless in this fight. Going up against the #2 ranked flyweight in the region. Setting up a massive Cage Titans Flyweight Title Fight! Valentin stuck in there and put on a fight but Mitch just seemed to be a little quicker everywhere. Raposo was able to use his strikes effectively , stuff takedowns, and effectively shut down Valentin in every aspect, which is not easy to do! Props to Raposo and as much as I'd love to see him fight locally again to witness the showcase of skills he puts on, I think its time he gets another shot at the UFC. I think all of New england believes that too! Raposo is now 9-1 on a 4 fight win streak with 3 KO's and 1 submission. Get this man back in the some UFC gloves asap!

2. Greg Jones vs. Brian Cosco

- Result: Greg Jones defeated Brian Cosco

- Method: Submission

- Round: 3

- Time: 3:19

The OG title class has a champion, and his name is Greg Jones. All domination by Jones in this one. Jones able to get the fight to the ground and Cosco just couldn't seem to get anything going. I heard a few times this was a 1 time title fight but I think the people and Greg Jones want to see the title back up for grabs! Who should be next for the Cage Titans OG title?

3. Zach DiSabatino vs. Tom Santos

- Result: Zach DiSabatino defeated Tom Santos

- Method: KO/TKO

- Round: 1

- Time: 3:39

Disabatino was able to get back in the win column by taking out Santos with a KO in round 1!

4. Jonathan Piersma vs. Aaron Trecell

- Result: Jonathan Piersma defeated Aaron Trecell

- Method: KO/TKO

- Round: 1

- Time: 2:56

This was one of those fights i was most looking forward to. Trecell coming off claiming the Cage Titans fighter of the year award and Piersma coming off his first defeat. I wondered how both men would look and Piersma wasted to time in this one. Piersma able to get the takedown, locks trcell in a crucifix position and starts raining down elbows. The ref gave Trecell all the time in the world to get back up but with a high level ground game and top control that Piersma has, thats near impossible. After Trecell eats a few elbows the ref jumps in ans stops the fight. Piersma looks flawless as well in his Cage Titans Premiere

5. Pat Gilbride vs. Lionel Young

- Result: Pat Gilbride defeated Lionel Young

- Method: Submission

- Round: 1

- Time: 0:55

A HUGE round 1 victory for Gilbride! Young was able to defeat Gilbride in their first meeting in the cage and Gilbride was able to right that wrong on his record by submitting the battle tested Young. The ending came when Young slammed Gilbride and got caught in an armbar. Beautiful timing and situational awareness by Gilrbride to throw that submission right up when seeing the opportunity.

6. Jake Hixenbaugh vs. Aaron Hughes

- Result: Jake Hixenbaugh defeated Aaron Hughes

- Method: Submission

- Round: 2

- Time: 3:39

The Hitman, Jake Hixenbaugh, gets the last word in this heated rivalry with Aaron "Shortfuse" Hughes. Both men landing some beautiful strikes standing up but Hixenbaugh able to push forward. Back on the ground Hix showed his ground skills by locking in a beautiful Triangle Choke and getting the Tap. Afterwards both men sook hands and left the beef in the cage. Hats off to both men for putting on one hell of a build up, and one hell of a fight. Excited to see both of these men back in the cage and see whats next for them both!

7. Everet Desilets vs. L. Fitzgerald

- Result: Everet Desilets defeated L. Fitzgerald

- Method: KO/TKO

- Round: 1

- Time: 1:36

Everet Desilets, Remember the name. Power, Precision, and grit is a combo all fighters want and Desilets showed he has it all. Fighting a taller opponent, desilets had to close the distance and he did so beautifully. Able to get in there and KO Fitzgerald with a clean left hook brings Everet to 3-0 MMA and 1-0 in Boxing. This is bad mofo and he called for a Title shot after.

8. Ozzy Martin vs. Cullen Johnson

- Result: Ozzy Martin defeated Cullen Johnson

- Method: KO/TKO

- Round: 2

- Time: 2:21

Ozzy Martin, a fan favorite, badass dude, with some clean striking, Ozzy will be someone to pay close attention to in 2024. Climbing to 3-1, Martin was able to defeat Cullen Johnson, and become the Cage Titans Amateur Welterweight Championship. Martin is all action, all the time. Will any welterweight amateurs step up to challenge or will ozzy go pro and add a huge name to this already stacked welterweight division in the area?

The rest of the amateur fights are listed below.
