Grigoriou vs. Moutinho Scratched From Combat FC 4 Card

The originally scheduled Combat FC Bantamweight Title fight between Charalampos Grigoriou (7-3) and Kris Moutinho (10-6) was guaranteed to be great. Two of the biggest prospects around were scheduled to slug it out for the Bantamweight title on June 16 at Combat FC 4. Unfortunately, this fight will no longer happen, however, it's also for good reason.

Charalampos Grigoriou was set to defend his Bantamweight Title after first claiming it at Combat FC 3 back in February when he defeated Chris Disonell by leg kicks in the fifth round of their five round war. Moutinho is also coming off a big win over Antonio Castillo Jr. at Combat Zone 79 in March, getting his hand raised by way of a bulldog choke. Both of these rising fighters were on their way to big things, something Moutinho had already gotten a taste for at UFC 264 when he took on the now-title contender UFC's Sean O'Malley.

During this camp, the call came for Grigoriou as he was officially invited to compete on Dana White's Contender Series, Episode 2. Of course, since this is the goal of most young professional fighters, Charalampos Greigoriou obviously accepted the opportunity is and is set compete on DWCS.

He will fight Houston's Cameron Smotherman (8-3), the Fury FC Champion riding a three fight win streak. Smotherman may be a young fighter, but he is lucky enough to train in a room full of killers. Smotherman is known to train with fighters like ex-Bellator World Champion Raufeon Stots and UFC's Ranked Bantamweight, Adrian Yanez. Smotherman has finished his last two fights by KO, and has finished 5 total of his fights by KO.

On the flip side, Charalampos Grigoriou, has also finished 5 of his wins by KO. He has proved that he is battle tested and can be a problem for anyone in the cage, especially with his stand up game. These two fighters have a lot of similar things going on at this point in their career. Both training out of big camps and getting better each fight, this fight could match up to be as fun as one you'd see on a pay-per-view.

With the Combat FC card just over a month away, there is still plenty of time to find an opponent for Kris Moutinho. Combat FC Matchmaker, Rick Caldwell is known to make big fights, so it would only make sense if we see another big fight announced.
