There are plenty of storylines heading into the main event of NEF 47 on May 17th, as a former student and coach at Central Maine BJJ will be clashing for bragging rights in Auburn, Maine. Jesse "The Viking" Erickson (10-8) has coached a number of fighters under the CMBJJ roof, and one of those former students will be looking to take his head off in 2.5 weeks. Matt Denning (5-12) is that former student, and if that wasn't intriguing enough, Denning doubled-down with some harsh words aimed at his former coach last week on the Between Rounds Radio Podcast.
Erickson has been a stalwart on the Maine MMA scene, competing 22 times under the NEF banner dating back 10+ years. He may not be knocking on the UFC's door, but Erickson carries an immense amount of respect in the region, so when Denning threw some shade at "The Viking" last week it caught many by surprise.
