Rob Font Makes 11th UFC Appearance at UFC 287

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

One of the best MMA products of New England, Rob Font (19-6) makes his eleventh UFC walk on Saturday at UFC 287 in Miami. Headlined by Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya, then having Burns vs. Masvidal as the co-main already makes for great headliners however, when you add two of the best "MMA Boxing" Bantamweights, Rob Font versus Adrian Yanez (16-3), this card goes from great to really great. These two are neck-and-neck in that super deep Bantamweight division with Font coming in at #6 and Yanez at #12. Stylistically, these two are one of the best matchups that could've been made in the division. Both of them have high level boxing technique and love to stand and bang. To mix in some statistics, Font has recorded 42% of his wins by TKO/KO aside from his dominant unanimous decision victories (37%). On the flip side, Adrian Yanez has recorded 63% of his wins by TKO/KO. This fight is going to be an absolute barn-burner and a great clash between two rising Bantamweight stars.

It will be super exciting to see the Leominster native step back into the octagon. It's been about a year since we've seen Font in the octagon and by looking at the way he's been training: it's due time. Font is currently on a two fight skid, coming up short in decision fights against UFC Legends in Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera. Before this skid, he went 4-0 taking out huge Bantamweight prospects like Ricky Simon, Marlon Moraes, Cody Garbrandt, and Sergio Pettis. Font spent the last year super busy in the gym but now, a father too. He welcomed a baby daughter to the family late last year and of course needed to take time for his family as well.

At this point, he has put countless hours in preparing for the tough and gritty Adrian Yanez, the rising Bantamweight from Houston, Texas. Font welcomes him to the UFC rankings and stands across from Yanez as his first ranked opponent. Yanez has earned his chance at higher level competition as he currently rides a 9 fight win streak and has gone 5-0 in the UFC since his Contender Series win in 2020. In Rob Font, he will face a very durable and tough opponent with lots of accuracy and explosive power in his punches. Font will come forward and bring the fight to each opponent bell to bell. On top of his, he excels in the wrestling department and can make it brutal on the mats. These two make for one of the best matchups on the card.

Stay tuned for the UFC 287 Main Card on Saturday night, this could potentially be the "Fight Of The Night".
